About The Position

Erickson Senior Living is hiring an Activities Director to oversee the overall operation of the Continuing Care Program at its Riderwood Village community in Silver Spring, MD. This role involves planning, organizing, developing, and directing therapeutic and recreational activities in accordance with Federal, State, and County regulations and established Erickson Living policies. The goal is to stimulate the physical, intellectual, spiritual, creative, recreational, social, and emotional needs and well-being of residents, promoting their highest level of independence and abilities. The Director will also manage the Resident Volunteer Program. Requirements

  • ADCP (Activity Director Certified Provisional) or ADC (Activity Director Certified) is required
  • CPR Certification required
  • Qualified as an Activity Director of CTRS, in accordance with state regulations
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience as an Activity/Recreation/Program Manager/Director in a geriatric setting OR 4 years as a Programming Assistant or 1 year as a Program Coordinator is required
  • Exceptional customer service, problem solving, organization, time management, and leadership skills
  • Skilled in cultivating a team-oriented culture that drives collaboration and collective success

Nice To Haves

  • ACC (Activity Consultant Certified), or CTRS (Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist) is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, develop, and direct the overall operation of the Continuing Care Program in accordance with Federal, State, and County regulations and established Erickson Living policies and procedures
  • Provide and assure that an ongoing program of therapeutic and recreational activities stimulates the physical, intellectual, spiritual, creative, recreational, social, and emotional needs and well-being of the residents residing in Continuing Care while promoting or maintaining their highest level of independence and abilities
  • Manager the Resident Volunteer Program
  • Provide an environment that promotes and supports an active, healthy, and independent lifestyle in accordance with the abilities of each individual resident
  • Participate in the Interdisciplinary Team Care Planning process
  • Provide oversight of delivery of customized, individualized resident services
  • Create a monthly activity calendar to be displayed on each nursing unit and in each resident’s room
  • Design, implement, supervise, and/or lead group and individual therapeutic and recreational activities
  • Interact directly with residents and family when able to gather information for assessments, MDS, and care plans
  • Determine the need for activity supplies, identify vendors, generate supply lists, order supplies, label and distribute supplies where needed
  • Ensure compliance with Federal, State and County requirements related to activity program documentation, including daily attendance, monthly calendars, progress note, MDS and Care Plans
  • Participate in yearly budget planning process; identify payroll and department supply needs
  • Educate staff and volunteers regarding resident’s abilities and limitations, psychosocial needs and therapeutic interventions during in-service training and staff meeting
