Activity / Activities Aide - Full Time Day Shift
About The Position
The Terrace is a skilled nursing facility that cares for older adults who need extra support, including those recovering after surgery or illness, and long-term residents with Alzheimer’s or memory loss. The facility emphasizes a team-based approach where every employee's work contributes to the dignity, comfort, and connection of residents. The role of an Activity Aide is crucial for the emotional well-being of residents, involving them in therapeutic engagement programs, life enrichment activities, and various entertainment options to support their recovery and provide joy, structure, and stimulation. Candidates with a strong background in sports, culture, music, and traditional recreational activities are sought to enhance resident engagement.
Requirements
- Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- If assigned transport (driving) responsibilities, must maintain a valid driver’s license and meet the organization’s motor vehicle record and insurance eligibility requirements
- Outgoing, compassionate, and skilled at creating a welcoming environment that encourages resident involvement and participation
- Strong background in sports, culture, music, and traditional recreational activities
Nice To Haves
- Prior experience as an Activity Aide in a Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF), Intermediate Care Facility (ICF), or Assisted Living Facility (ALF) is strongly preferred
- Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) or patient documentation systems is preferred
Responsibilities
- Lead engaging group events, ranging from fitness and games to music and arts
- Lead stimulating individual cognitive and memory retention activities for our long-term residents
- Maintain accurate documentation in PointClickCare (EMR system)
- Collaborate with our health care teams to individualize your approach
- Drive and/or escort residents to off-site events, appointments or activities utilizing our facility van
