The Assistant Manager, Lessons & Summer Camp is a key leadership role within Woodward Park City’s Progression department. This position supports the planning, delivery, and continuous improvement of lessons and summer camp programs while leading supervisors and instructional staff to deliver safe, engaging, and high-quality guest experiences. The Assistant Manager partners closely with the department’s leadership to ensure operational excellence, staff development, and alignment with Woodward’s culture and standards. Overseas daily execution of instructional programs. Provides leadership to supervisory and coaching staff. Directly and indirectly support approximately 60 instructional employees.

Requirements

  • Advanced skills in one or more action sports and related safety practices
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel)
  • Ability to work weekends, holidays, and evenings
  • Ability to work outdoors and perform physical job requirements
  • Successful background check and SafeSport completion (post-hire)

Nice To Haves

  • Leadership experience in camp-based or multi-sport instructional environments
  • 3+ years of leadership experience managing staff performance
  • 5+ years teaching action sports (e.g., skiing, snowboarding, skateboarding, BMX, mountain biking, trampoline, gymnastics, parkour)
  • Relevant industry certifications (e.g., PSIA-AASI, USASA, PMBIA, USAG, USSA)
  • Familiarity with scheduling, payroll, or POS systems (Flaik, RTP, Workday, or similar)

Responsibilities

  • People Leadership Guide, mentor, and assist Supervisors, Leads, and Coaches.
  • Participate in hiring, onboarding, training, performance management, and offboarding.
  • Support employee engagement, retention, and development initiatives.
  • Program & Instructional Delivery Support development, execution, and continuous improvement of lessons and camps.
  • Ensure consistent quality, progression standards, and delivery of the guest experience.
  • Teach group and private lessons as required.
  • Recommend program enhancements based on feedback and performance.
  • Operations & Scheduling Coordinate staffing schedules to meet business demand.
  • Review payroll and manage labor in alignment with budgets.
  • Serve as Manager on Duty on a rotating basis.
  • Ensure opening and closing procedures are completed accurately.
  • Identify and coordinate maintenance and equipment needs.
  • Safety, Guest Experience & Communication Uphold safety standards, training requirements, and risk management protocols.
  • Communicate with parents, guardians, guests, and staff as needed.
  • Resolve guest and employee concerns professionally and promptly.
  • Collaboration Partner cross-functionally with other departments.
  • Support Progression operations based on business needs.
