About The Position

MTC operates the Inland Empire Job Corps Center in San Bernardino, CA, providing quality services to local youth. The ACT/OTP Coordinator reports to the academic manager and is responsible for coordinating advanced training recruitment, marketing, scheduling, reviewing all applicants and their qualifications, and coordinating and maintaining relationships with other training providers (OTP) and colleges. This role ensures compliance with government and management directives and supports the center's mission to improve people's lives.

Requirements

  • Five years’ experience in professional teaching of youth or background in youth development.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills are required.
  • Excellent written skills and computer proficiency required.
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Marketing background is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and coordinate the administrative recruitment functions for the advanced career training (ACT) programs and other training providers (OTP).
  • Develop high quality marketing materials to recruit from all Job Corps Centers.
  • Develop ACT application packet requirements with submission process and submittal deadlines.
  • Cultivate relationships with the advanced training representatives at the various Job Corps sites.
  • Coordinate closely with the career technical training (CTT) and academic managers on slot status and TAR and curriculum information.
  • Coordinate with OTP providers for supplies, grants and tuition waivers.
  • Conduct interviews with student applicants to understand their skill capabilities and if they meet standard requirements.
  • Ensure a smooth student transition from on-center training to off-center training.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of new and revised policies and procedures affecting ACT/OTP programs and update annually.
  • Schedule and maintain ACT/OTP student progress reviews and records; ensure student records are maintained and kept current.
  • Create management spreadsheets to monitor student statuses and link to slot availability.
  • Coordinate with center national training contractors to obtain recruitment support from their channels.
  • Continuously improve recruiting processes and develop goals each year for quantitative and qualitative improvement.
  • Ensure the centers career development services system is supported and integrated seamlessly for advanced training.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work area that models high standards for a work environment.
  • Provide positive, quality customer services to students, staff and other center customers.
  • Participate in student employability programs and activities.
  • Support, promote, and enforce the Job Corps’ Zero Tolerance Policy.
  • Promote the development of career success standards by modeling appropriate behaviors, mentoring students where necessary and monitoring both positive and negative behaviors through interventions.
  • Maintain accountability of staff, students and property; adhere to safety practices.
  • Perform other duties as assigned within his/her capabilities as determined by management.
