Requirements

  • High school diploma (or GED) and four years of library work experience.
  • Experience processing purchase transactions in a public or private organizational setting.
  • Excellent attention to detail and high degree of accuracy in performing tasks.
  • Enthusiasm for delivering high quality service.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to communicate effectively to both technical and nontechnical users.
  • Demonstrated ability to be flexible with changing work assignments and environments.
  • Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Experience working in an academic library in an Acquisitions, Serials, or Technical Services environment.
  • Experience performing acquisitions functions within a library services platform such as Ex Libris Alma and Primo.
  • Evidence of maintaining current awareness of trends, standards, and ongoing developments in library technical services workflows, systems, and platforms.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively and build productive partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience documenting procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Monitors the full life cycle of monograph orders and/or continuing resources purchases and subscriptions, intervening and troubleshooting as required (e.g. investigating non-supply and initiating claims) to ensure accurate and timely order fulfilment, referring as necessary to appropriate supervisors.
  • Contributes to the maintenance of an accurate and up-to-date acquisitions and/or continuing resources information in the library services platform, Alma.
  • Receives and processes resources to ensure immediate availability of complete holdings, and longer-term selection/collation/handling of volumes for binding to ensure continued integrity and availability of collections for library users.
  • Performs advanced work with troubleshooting electronic resources access issues and package reconciliation access issues.
  • Undertakes project-based work as required to accommodate wider policy and procedural changes.
  • Maintains awareness of emerging technologies, standards, and technical issues relating to the procurement and maintenance of physical and electronic resources.
  • Participates in department meetings.
  • Serves on committees, task forces, and working groups related to departmental responsibilities.
  • Attends training initiatives as directed by supervisor, Unit Head, or Head of Content Management.
  • Other related functions as assigned.
