About The Position

MDW is seeking Future Hire candidates to provide Acquisition Data Scientist support to our Assistant Secretary of the Navy for Research, Development & Acquisition (ASN/RD&A) client. The Acquisition Data Scientist must be capable of applying extensive professional knowledge, skills, training, and experience to support the ASN(RD&A) organization. This position will provide industry engagement analysis and support across the ASN(RD&A) enterprise. This position is located onsite at the Pentagon, Arlington, VA. The Acquisition Data Scientist will provide the ASN(RD&A) organization with Data Analytics and Management support. The Acquisition Data Scientist may perform a combination of some or all of the following duties:

Requirements

  • Experience with data science, data mining, statistics, or graph algorithms to support analytics objectives.
  • Experience with Qlik, PowerBI, Python, and others, and applying Structured Query Language (SQL), Non Structured Query Language (NoSQL), Application Program Interface (API) Building, Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) pipelines, Web Application Servers, or Search Index.
  • Experience working in an Echelon 1 organization (the highest organizational levels within the U.S. Navy) and working with Senior Executive Service Civilians, and Flag Officers/General Officers is highly recommended.
  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of data scientist experience.
  • Candidates for this position must be eligible to obtain a US DoD Secret Clearance (required U.S. citizenship)

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred experience with involvement in defense acquisition programs.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support and analysis for data science, analysis, and management expertise for acquisition data, to include identification, collection, cleansing, analysis, and interpretation of acquisition data, transforming raw data into meaningful information.
  • Apply data mining, data modeling, natural language processing, and machine learning to extract and analyze information from large structured and unstructured datasets.
  • Visualize, interpret, and report data findings.
  • Create dynamic data reports.
  • Develop and update acquisition, business, and sustainment (ABS) data system activities, processes, and guidance for accountability across the DON enterprise.
  • Coordinate, collect, consolidate, and analyze information contained in various databases and information collected during data calls for ABS data systems.
  • Provide strategic evaluation of ABS data system-related issues and support developing strategic plans for improvement initiatives.
  • Coordinate, collect, consolidate, and test ABS data systems to problem solve, validate, account for DON requirements, and support Financial Improvement and Audit Readiness (FIAR).
  • Develop training materials for ABS data systems.
  • Provide ABS data systems support, including but not limited to hands-on or remote training and job aids.
  • Develop and maintain a website to support the DON ABS data systems communities.
  • Participate in the review of various ABS data systems (for software releases), and support the implementation of correcting functioning software.
  • Assist the government with communications management activities to support liaison across the DON Secretariat, with the subordinate commands (services and Budget Submitting Offices), and with the OSD (including Defense Logistics Agency, U.S. Cyber Command, and Defense Information Systems Agency) offices critical to ABS data systems policy and execution.
