About The Position

General Definition of Work Performs works responsible for securing property, preparing and executing agreements and performing research duties for the City of Cape Girardeau. Essential Functions ● Secures easements, rights of way and real property as directed by the City Manager or his/her designee. Works with City staff to understand scope of work for each project and identify acquisitions needed; orders title searches; hires appraisers; negotiates with property owners and their agents; prepares documents; secures City Council approvals; records documents; coordinates payments; and performs other acquisition-related tasks as necessary. ● Manages lease agreements for properties leased from or to the City. ● Responds to property owners offering to sell or donate land to the City. ● Assists with preparation and execution of lease agreements and other documents as directed by the City Manager or his or her designee. ● Researches land records as requested. ● Files documents and maintains records in accordance with City policies. ● Assists and serves as backup for the Project Specialist, as needed. ● Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Two (2) years professional experience with real estate transactions, such as in a real estate office, attorney’s office or title company or similar office.
  • Must have or be able to obtain a valid Missouri driver’s license.

Nice To Haves

  • Real estate license.
  • Bachelor’s degree in urban planning, civil engineering, public administration or related field or equivalent training and industry experience.
