About The Position

Salas O’Brien is a top-ranked, employee-owned, multi-disciplinary consulting firm seeking an experienced Acoustics Consultant to join its growing acoustics team. This role focuses on acoustics design, analysis, and field measurement for the built environment, including sports venues, performance spaces, healthcare, hospitality, corporate, residential, and education projects. The consultant will lead and support acoustics efforts across projects—preparing reports, conducting modeling and calculations, reviewing drawings, performing on-site observations, and collaborating closely with clients and design teams. Ideal candidates have 3–5+ years of experience in architectural and environmental acoustics, strong technical and communication skills, and proficiency with acoustics modeling software such as SoundPlan or EASE. Positions are available in Dallas, Chicago, or Boulder/Denver, with remote or hybrid options depending on qualifications. Requirements

  • 3-5+ years of experience in acoustics design and measurements for the built environment.
  • The ability to design and prepare acoustics reports, conduct drawing reviews, perform calculations related to sound isolation, noise control and room acoustics, prepare schedules and specifications, and interact with clients and design team members on a daily basis.
  • A minimum bachelor’s degree in engineering or other STEM fields.
  • Experience in architectural and environmental acoustics, field measurement, and on-site construction observation.
  • Skills and experience in computer modelling (SoundPlan, EASE, etc.).
  • A desire to work on multi-discipline projects with talented design teams.
