About The Position

AECOM is seeking an entry-level Acoustician to be based in Oakland, Los Angeles, Orange, or San Diego, California office. This position can start ASAP. The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to: Primary support on noise analysis tasks for major transportation, construction, energy, and development projects across the U.S. Perform predictive analyses with spreadsheet-based tools and commercially available software such as FHWA Traffic Noise Model and CadnaA. Deploy and supervise a variety of sound level measurements in the field; conduct and document attended sound measurements; download and process collected data for report or presentation content inclusion. Sound measurement tasks will frequently require working in an outdoor environment in various climates. Regular travel across the United States should be anticipated. Research and review regulatory issues regarding local, state, and national codes. Prepare client deliverables (e.g., letter reports, technical documents, and graphics). While the position typically adheres to a traditional 40-hour workweek schedule, some night and weekend assignments will be required or expected.

Requirements

  • Candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Acoustical science, or Environmental Policy (or closely related fields).
  • Due to the nature of work, US Citizenship is required.
  • Valid U.S. Driver’s License required to visit project sites, clients, and other AECOM offices.
  • As a condition of employment, selected candidate must pass a Motor Vehicle Records review.

Nice To Haves

  • Relevant years of experience in acoustics and/or noise control.
  • Familiarity with CAD software and tools.
  • Familiarity with Excel
  • Experience with equipment and procedures relating to conducting noise measurements.
  • Familiarity using GIS software, Revit, and/or BIM360.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team on large projects.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills, including the ability to speak effectively in public.
