About The Position

HDR's Senior Acoustician will: serve as Project Manager for various projects, including Acoustics and other mechanical engineering, design, or development projects, as needed; plan and develop projects and design activities that have significant impact on major company programs; develop scope, schedule, and budget to support proposal development; serve as a technical expert with recognized authority in Acoustics, resolving problems of greater scope and complexity and leading and managing acoustical and vibration assessments; conduct architectural acoustics, mechanical noise, sound isolation, and building vibration-related analyses; use state-of-the-art instruments to measure noise and vibration and to process and analyze data; prepare technical acoustical reports; coordinate with subconsultants to keep projects on schedule and within budget and manage day-to-day communication (verbal and written) with the client; implement quality control procedures and oversee use of project quality plans; and serve as a client manager for selected clients.

Requirements

  • A Master's Degree in Acoustics, Mechanical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and 5 years of experience in acoustical analysis or a Bachelor's Degree in Acoustics, Mechanical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and 7 years of experience in acoustical analysis.
  • Required experience must include experience in: Larson Davis instrumentation and software; ArcGIS; GPS; data processing with MATLAB and Microsoft Excel; relevant ISO and related acoustical standards; and guidance documents for acoustical analyses including FHWA, FTA, FRA and UFC.
