Manage assigned patient accounts, ensuring accurate and compliant billing to patients and insurance payers. Post charges, payments, and adjustments daily. Work and resolve outstanding accounts receivable, including denials and follow‑ups. Document all actions taken on patient accounts. Research and answer patient billing inquiries in a timely, professional manner. Escalate complex or unresolved accounts following workflow guidelines. Adhere to HIPAA, billing regulations, and all Ellis Medicine policies. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree preferred.
  • 2+ years of accounts receivable experience (hospital/healthcare preferred).
  • Knowledge of medical billing, insurance guidelines, and CPT/HCPCS/ICD‑9 codes preferred.
  • Proficiency with Windows, Microsoft Excel, and Word.
  • Strong communication, customer service, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to learn and retain medical billing processes
  • Should be able to push/pull, lift/move 15 lb., be able to perform moderately difficult manual manipulations such as using a keyboard, writing, and filing for extended periods of time, must be able to perform tasks which require hand-eye coordination such as data entry, typing and using photo copiers.
  • Mobility requirements may include the ability to be stationary at a workstation for a prolonged period time in addition to being able to squat or be mobile for a reasonable length of time and distance.
  • Communication requirements include the ability to comprehend the spoken English language in addition to being able to communicate and read the English language.
