About The Position

The Accounting Specialist will play a key role within the finance team, with a primary focus on Accounts Receivable (AR) activities. This individual will be responsible for ensuring accurate billing, timely collections, and proper application of cash while supporting general accounting functions as needed. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable collaborating across departments to resolve discrepancies and improve cash flow.

Requirements

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 2+ years of accounting experience with a strong emphasis on accounts receivable
  • Experience with accounting and JDE/JD Edwards
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, pivot tables preferred)
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Generate, review, and distribute customer invoices accurately and on time
  • Monitor accounts receivable aging and follow up on past-due balances
  • Apply customer payments (checks, ACH, wire, credit cards) accurately in the ERP system
  • Investigate and resolve billing discrepancies, short payments, and unapplied cash
  • Communicate professionally with customers regarding invoices, payment status, and account inquiries
  • Support month-end AR close activities, including reconciliations and reporting
  • Assist with journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end close processes
  • Maintain accurate financial records in accordance with company policies and accounting standards
  • Support audits by preparing documentation and responding to requests
  • Collaborate with internal teams (sales, customer service, operations) to ensure billing accuracy
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and controls
