About The Position

American Residential Services is the largest provider of residential services in the US, employing more than 7000 professionals across the country. ARS has been serving its customers with HVAC, Plumbing and Electrical solutions for over 50 years since its establishment in 1975. Provides accounting and clerical support to the accounting department for effective handling of financial records and operations.

Requirements

  • HS diploma, or GED equivalent required.
  • 3 year’s experience in accounting is required.
  • Related experience and/or advanced training or any equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.
  • Must be computer literate with knowledge of Microsoft Office products.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in accounting and knowledge of basic bookkeeping and/or accounting principles desired.
  • Knowledge of accounting software is desired.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains records and files, including accounts payable and accounts receivable documentation, journal and general ledger documentation and other miscellaneous filings.
  • Enters data into spreadsheets and prepares assigned reports.
  • Performs in a variety of accounts receivable duties to include sorting and matching checks and invoices, posting cash, check and credit card payments to the proper accounts, preparing bank deposit slips, recording cash receipt information, reviewing credit memos and/or refunds and applying adjustments to accounts as necessary, performing basic collection activities, and reviewing accounts receivable aging reports and gathering details on delinquent accounts.
  • Performs basic audit functions to ensure proper posting to accounts.
  • Prepares correspondence to assist in answering inquiries and resolving discrepancies.
  • Creates customer and vendor files, files invoices and copies of checks and updates customer and vendor information.
  • Assists in preparing month-end reporting to include printing various reports and creating spreadsheets.
  • Prepares daily and weekly reports.
