About The Position

The Accounts Payable Lead is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day accounts payable function, ensuring accurate and timely invoice processing, payment execution, and financial reporting. This role provides leadership to the AP team, drives process improvements, and ensures strong internal controls and compliance. The AP Lead partners cross-functionally to support vendor management, international transactions, and month-end close activities, including journal entries and accruals. This role follows a hybrid schedule and requires regular, in-person work at our Hampton, NH or future Boston, MA office. Our hybrid model is M/T/W in office and TH/F are optional work-from-home. Candidates must reside within commuting distance of one of these locations. Fully remote work is not available for this role.

Requirements

  • 2-4 years of Accounts Payable experience, including team leadership
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
  • Extremely detail-oriented, efficient, and organized with an exceptional ability to establish priorities and objectives
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills along with the ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization
  • Able to establish and maintain effective, collaborative work relationships with diverse individuals, internally and externally
  • Creative, progressive, thought leadership with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization
  • Strong leadership skills including the ability to build teams, motivate, guide, and mentor

Nice To Haves

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field preferred
  • Experience with Microsoft Great Plains (GP) and Concur Invoice preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership, guidance, and oversight to the Accounts Payable team, ensuring efficient daily operations and high-quality output
  • Oversee the full invoice lifecycle, including general ledger coding, processing, and timely payment execution
  • Review and approve payment batches, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and proper authorization
  • Serve as the primary escalation point for complex vendor, invoice, and payment issues, driving timely resolution
  • Manage vendor onboarding and maintenance processes, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and strong vendor relationships
  • Work closely with the vendor management team and AP Manager in the 1099 process
  • Oversee direct debit transactions and equipment-related invoicing processes
  • Lead account reconciliations and proactively identify, investigate, and resolve discrepancies
  • Support and review month-end close activities, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
  • Ensure adherence to SOX controls and continuously strengthen internal controls and audit readiness
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements, automation, and increased efficiency across AP functions
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to improve workflows and support business objectives
  • Perform other duties as assigned

  • The hourly rate for NH-based and MA-based employees hired into this role will be aligned with the range below. This is a good faith estimate, and the amount of base salary will correspond with a candidate’s professional experience, qualifications and internal equity.
  • Base Hourly Rate Range: $30.50-$36.00/hour
