About The Position

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Accounts Payable Clerk to join our finance team. In this role, you will be responsible for processing and managing all aspects of accounts payable functions, ensuring timely and accurate payments to vendors and suppliers. The ideal candidate is organized, familiar with accounting software, and has a solid understanding of financial concepts, including double-entry bookkeeping, debits & credits, and GAAP standards. Your contribution will help maintain smooth financial operations and support our organization's overall health.

Requirements

• Proven experience working with accounting software such as Paychex, Workday, PeopleSoft, or Ceridian is highly desirable.
• Strong understanding of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and technical accounting concepts.
• Excellent data entry skills with high accuracy; proficiency in 10-key typing is preferred.
• Ability to perform account reconciliation, journal entries, and general ledger accounting tasks efficiently.
• Strong analysis skills to interpret financial data and identify discrepancies or errors.

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of food distribution is a plus, but not mandatory

Responsibilities

• Process invoices, expense reports, and purchase orders accurately using accounting software, including QuickBooks, Sage, and Ramp.
• Reconcile vendor statements and perform account reconciliations to ensure data accuracy.
• Maintain detailed records of all transactions, including journal entries related to accounts payable activities.
• Assist with month-end closing procedures, including general ledger reconciliation and analysis of outstanding payables.
• Support compliance with SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) controls by documenting processes and maintaining audit-ready files.
• Help resolve discrepancies or issues related to payments or invoices by communicating effectively with vendors and internal departments.
