About The Position

This Accounting Technician II is located in the Controllers' Office and ensures fiscal accountability for funds awarded to the agency from various sources. This includes compliance, interpreting and applying federal regulations, cash management and reporting expenditures. This position is responsible for interpreting, auditing and monitoring of Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs). This position is responsible for entering data into the database to generate cost reports. The Controller’s Office ensures that all department financial resources and funds are received, disbursed, recorded, and accounted for in accordance with all applicable State and Federal laws and regulations: generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Department policy and procedures. The Controller's Office at the agency level has oversight responsibility of this department and is accountable to the office of the State Controller for the integrity of that data.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in Accounting from an appropriately accredited institution and one year of accounting experience; or High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and three years of experience in accounting work; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with the North Carolina Financial System (NCFS) OR Experience using another electronic accounting system(s)
  • Excel experience
  • Experience with reconciling financial data
  • Experience with assisting, interpreting, and/or analyzing accounting data in various aspects of grants

Responsibilities

  • Ensures fiscal accountability for funds awarded to the agency from various sources.
