About The Position

The Accounting Technician 7-E9 (Accounts Receivable) position within the State of Michigan's Department of Transportation is responsible for the reconciliation of accounts receivables and electronic receipts for various departments. This role involves maintaining control records, ensuring accurate accounting of receipts, and preparing financial schedules and reports related to revenue settlement. The position also serves as a backup for other accounting technicians in the department.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent education.
  • One year of experience in accounting involving posting to ledger accounts and preparing financial statements (Accounting Technician 7).
  • Two years of experience in accounting, including one year equivalent to an Accounting Technician 7 (Accounting Technician 8).
  • Three years of experience in accounting, including one year equivalent to an Accounting Technician 8 (Accounting Technician E9).
  • Completion of two years of college with accounting credits may substitute for experience (Accounting Technician 7).
  • Bachelor's degree with accounting credits may substitute for experience (Accounting Technician 8 and E9).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with MiCaRS (Michigan's accounting system).
  • Experience reviewing and analyzing journal vouchers and interagency billings.

Responsibilities

  • Reconcile accounts receivables and electronic receipts for multiple departments.
  • Maintain and reconcile control records utilizing state administrative procedures.
  • Communicate internally and externally to ensure accurate accounting of receipts and accounts receivable establishment.
  • Distribute credit card revenue deposited by Treasury to appropriate account coding.
  • Compile and prepare various financial schedules and reports related to revenue settlement.
  • Serve as a backup for other Accounting Technicians.
