This position is responsible for supervising the Financial Accounting and Sox responsibilities of Special Metals Corp. This role also serves as a consultant for management within the organization, advising them of current financial information and working with management to create a strategy that aligns with the goals of Special Metals. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Preparation of weekly, monthly and quarterly financial reports and statements. Balance sheet analysis. Inter-company reporting and balancing. Month end close processing to prepare the submission of timely trial balances at month end to the Division team. Audit the work of the finance accounting section. Preparation of City and State Tax filings. Engage in critical and confidential aspects of accounting. Interfacing with the external auditors on accounting issues and providing supporting documentation. Responsible for the development of policies, systems, special financial studies, etc. of major importance. Advise management on matters of fiscal procedure and importance for the organization. Ensure compliance with the financial procedures of the organization. Works with confidential data, which, if disclosed, might have significant internal effect or minor external effect. Responsible for and directing month-end closing – journal entry preparation –general ledger account analysis – project review/analysis. Detailed oriented and flexible within an ever changing environment. ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES Work on special projects, implementations and report preparation as requested. Accomplishes all tasks as appropriate.
