About The Position

Under the general supervision of the Chief Finance Officer, The Accounting Supervisor is responsible for overseeing, leading and supporting the daily operations of the accounting department, ensuring integrity accuracy and timelines of financial operations. This position supervises and develops accounting staff, oversees key financial processes, and ensures compliance with internal controls, company policies and regulatory requirements. The Accounting Supervisor actively evaluates and improves accounting procedures, supports month-end and year-end reporting, collaborates with auditors and provides technical expertise to resolve complex accounting issues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting preferred; an Associate’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, or a related field with equivalent professional experience is required.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible accounting experience.
  • At least two (2) years of supervisory or lead experience overseeing accounting staff or daily accounting operations.
  • All employees must be sensitive to the needs of the Native American Community, demonstrate a deep understanding and respect for the diverse cultural heritage, traditions, and historical context of the Native American community.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily accounting operations, ensuring accurate and timely processing of accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll inputs, and general ledger activities.
  • Review and approve journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reports to ensure accuracy and compliance with established accounting standards.
  • Monitor month end and year end closing processes, assisting in the preparation of financial statements and internal management reports.
  • Ensure adherence to internal controls, organizational policies, regulatory requirements, recommending changes when needed to maintain compliance and administer security protocols to minimize risks to company assets.
  • Develop, implement, and refine accounting procedures to improve efficiency, accuracy, and workflow effectiveness.
  • Serve as a point of contact for external and internal auditors, preparing required schedules, documentation, and responses to audit inquiries.
  • Identify, research, and resolve complex accounting issues and provide technical guidance to staff and management.
  • Coordinate with other departments to ensure proper coding, documentation, and communication regarding financial transactions.
