Our client, a well-established law firm in Bakersfield, is seeking a detail-oriented Accounting Specialist to join their growing team. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced professional services environment and enjoys working across multiple accounting functions. Position Overview The Accounting Specialist will play a key role in supporting the firmâs financial operations, with a strong focus on accounts payable, accounts receivable, credit and collections, reconciliations, and assisting with the month-end close process.

Requirements

1-3 years of accounting experience
Strong understanding of AP, AR, and general accounting principles
Experience with credit and collections processes
Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel
High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities

Responsibilities

Manage full-cycle Accounts Payable (AP), including invoice processing, coding, and payment distribution
Oversee Accounts Receivable (AR), including billing support, cash applications, and client account maintenance
Handle credit and collections, following up on outstanding balances and maintaining positive client relationships
Perform bank and account reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness
Assist with month-end close, including journal entries, accruals, and supporting schedules
Maintain accurate financial records and ensure compliance with internal policies and procedures
Collaborate with attorneys and administrative staff regarding billing and account inquiries
Identify process improvements to enhance efficiency within the accounting function
