A Day In the Life as an Accounting Specialist The primary role of an Accounting Specialist (non-exempt, Grade 7) at MidSouth Community FCU is to provide back-office branch operations support through the maintenance of accounting records and reports. The Accounting Department is a close-knit team led by the Accounting & Operations Manager and housed at our Mercer University Drive branch in Macon GA. This department is a busy and fast-paced environment, handling inquiries and providing assistance to a variety of individuals each day. As an Accounting Specialist, you would serve internal team members by assisting with questions regarding member accounts, transactions, and more. You would also serve external member-owners by ensuring accuracy of account maintenance, drafting and distributing letters, reconciling accounts/ general ledgers/ payments, and more. If you have worked in a financial institution in a back-office support role or if you have been customer/member-facing in a role that requires a high level of accuracy and attention to detail, this position may be perfect for you! Additionally, we are looking for a person who is able to effectively balance priorities, while maintaining a level of high professionalism and courtesy to all members.

Requirements

  • One to three years of similar or related experience.
  • A high school education or GED.
  • Courtesy, tact, and diplomacy are essential elements of the job.
  • Work involves personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization, generally regarding routine matters for purposes of giving or obtaining information which may require some discussion.
