About The Position

This full-time position will report to our Healthcare Employees Federal Credit Union. Healthcare Employees Federal Credit Union (HEFCU) has a position open for a full-time Accounting Representative at our Princeton, NJ location. About NJHA: The New Jersey Hospital Association is a not-for-profit trade organization representing New Jersey’s hospitals, health systems, behavioral healthcare systems, rehabilitation hospitals, psychiatric hospitals, assisted living, nursing homes and other healthcare providers. NJHA and its affiliates, the Health Research and Educational Trust of New Jersey and Healthcare Business Solutions, share a collective goal of improving the health of New Jerseyans through services and programs that enhance quality, affordable, equitable, and accessible healthcare. Objective: Manages and maintains Financial Operations/Accounting, Risk, Audits, and Compliance. Equipment Used to Perform Essential Functions: Computer, telephone, calculator.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or 4-years relevant experience within a financial institution accounting department.
  • Must demonstrate organization skills, critical thinking, knowledge of GAAP/CECL, have excellent communication, analytical, problem solving, and time management skills.
  • Experience with internal controls, audit, and financials.

Responsibilities

  • Process daily accounting transactions; including, general ledger entries, reconciliations, and journal entries
  • Prepare and review all bank reconciliations daily, resolving account discrepancies and variances
  • Assists with preparation of financial reports, schedules, and audit documentation
  • Maintain accurate records in compliance with GAAP, NCUA regulations, and credit union policies
  • Assists with Account Payable functions
  • Support month-end, and year-end closing activities
  • Assists in the creation of budgets/yearly financial objectives that align with the company’s plan for growth and expansion
  • Works with external auditors to prepare and provide required documentation
  • Performs monthly audits of new loans and new membership accounts
  • Provides internal support and responds to accounting related inquiries
  • Assists in the assessment and evaluation of financial performance of the organization with regard to long-term operational goals, budgets and forecasts
  • Assists in the preparation, maintenance, and presentation of periodic financial performance reports
  • Utilizes forward-looking models and activity-based analyses to provide financial insight into the organization’s plans and operating budgets
  • Other duties as assigned
