About The Position

The Accounting Manager is responsible for all operational activities of the Accounting department. They oversee day-to-day operations across all accounting functions, including accounts payable, item processing, general ledger transactions, balancing, reconciliations, regulatory reporting, and analysis management. The Accounting Manager is dedicated to working with the VP of Finance and CFO to create and sustain a culture filled with people who are Focused, Engaged, Trustworthy, Humbly Confident, and driven to Achieve. The Accounting Manager collaborates with the Accounting team and other teams to ensure timelines and goals are achieved.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 4-5 years of related experience in a financial institution is required.
  • At least two years of management experience is required.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word is required
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel (formulas, functions, etc.) is required.

  • Team Collaboration: Collaborates with Accounting, Finance, and all other necessary teams in all discussions relevant to the management of the credit union’s short- and long-term goals and objectives and communicates such goals and objectives to credit union staff members.
  • Accounting Team Management: Manages the day-to-day accounting operations of the credit union, including accounts payable, general ledger transactions, balancing, item processing, and reconciliations. Responsible for managing the credit union’s reporting and analysis functions and preparing performance reports for Executive Management. Supports management in external audit processes.
  • Continued Growth Support: Supports the Accounting team in assessment, reporting, coaching, training, accountability and improvement plan recommendations for the department and individuals as needed.
  • Safety and Soundness: Monitors the credit union’s safety and soundness through compliant accounting practices and financial oversight, ensuring compliance with all policies and procedures and federal and state laws, rules, regulations, and industry best practices.
