About The Position

The Accounting Manager oversees the daily operations of the accounting department, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting, compliance with accounting standards, and efficient execution of accounting processes. This role supervises accounting staff, coordinates month-end close activities, and supports company leadership with financial insights to guide decision-making.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
  • 7+ years of progressively responsible accounting experience, including at least 2 years in supervisory role, in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting.
  • Experience with ERP/accounting systems (Epicor experience is a plus)
  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

  • CPA or CMA preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for on time completion.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies.
  • Manage the month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Prepare and review journal entries, reconciliations, and accruals.
  • Supervise AP and AR functions to ensure timely processing, accuracy, and adherence to spending controls.
  • Monitor collections, outstanding invoices, and credit management.
  • Maintain the general ledger and chart of accounts.
  • Develop and implement process improvements for efficiency and accuracy.
  • Generate weekly cash flow reports.
  • Determines proper handling of financial transactions and approves transactions within designated limits.
  • Coordinate with external auditors and manage audit requests.
  • Prepare required tax filings; including sales and use tax, property tax, 1099, etc.
  • Lead, train, and mentor accounting staff.
  • Assign tasks and review work for accuracy and completeness.
  • Support cross-functional teams with financial data and analysis.
  • Assist the Director of Finance with independent research, taxes, and analysis.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to improve efficiency and accuracy of financial operations.
  • Support annual budgeting and periodic forecasting.
  • Analyze financial performance and variances.
  • Prepare financial documents and presentations.
  • Provide management with actionable insights and recommendations.
