About The Position

At The Budd Group, we are looking for a Regional Accounting Manager who acts as a high-level financial co-pilot, providing the deep-dive analysis and "boots on the ground" insight needed to drive our profitability across the Raleigh and Virginia markets. You aren't just a spreadsheet wizard—you are a proactive leader who bridges the gap between complex data and real-world operational success. Our Cultural Magnet: We take our financial integrity seriously, but we don’t take ourselves too seriously—if you can balance a P&L with a smile and appreciate a team that treats every "discrepancy" like a fun mystery to solve, you’ll fit right in!

Requirements

  • Education: A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field is required.
  • Technical Expertise: Strong proficiency in ERP systems (NetSuite, Oracle, or Workday preferred) and Business Intelligence software like Tableau.
  • Experience: Proven experience in an analytical accounting or finance role, with a strong preference for those who have previously managed other accountants or controllers.
  • Soft Skills: Must possess "reassuring firmness"—the ability to maintain strict accounting standards while communicating effectively with diverse operational teams.
  • Analytical Rigor: A "zero-discrepancy" mindset with heavy experience in P&L analysis, variance reporting, and financial modeling.
  • Mobility: Must have a valid driver’s license and the flexibility to travel between Raleigh, NC, and Virginia (Richmond/Hampton) markets.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and Mentor: Provide direct and indirect supervision to a team of regional accountants in Raleigh and Hampton, VA, ensuring high performance and professional growth.
  • Drive Financial Integrity: Oversee the monthly close process, issue detailed financial reports, and ensure the absolute integrity of all regional financial statements.
  • Proactive Analysis: Utilize Business Intelligence tools (Tableau) and ERP systems to monitor labor costs and supplies, identifying variances before they become problems.
  • Master Forecasting: Coordinate the preparation of monthly forecasts and annual financial plans, maintaining a "forecast-to-actual" accuracy within tight margins.
  • Field Partnership: Meet regularly with operations managers to review P&Ls, assist with coding, and provide financial training to non-financial staff.
  • Operational Oversight: Monitor account reconciliations, oversee A/P and A/R activities, and assist in collecting problem accounts according to company policy.
  • Audit Support: Facilitate internal audits and support annual financial audits by providing accurate, timely documentation and research.

Benefits

  • Flexible Work Environment: Enjoy a hybrid start! While we transition toward a long-term goal of 3–4 days in-office, you will have the autonomy to work remotely as we establish our Virginia presence.
  • Professional Growth: Join a fast-paced, "coach-approach" culture where your leadership is valued, and your career trajectory is supported by executive mentorship.
