About The Position

This individual is responsible for providing financial oversight for the properties assigned to them ensuring that the financial statements are prepared in accordance with the Management Agreements. The PA Manager will mentor and supervise a staff of Property Accountants. The PA Manager will also be responsible for centralized processes that benefit the entire group.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree (required)
  • 5-10+ years of accounting experience
  • Intermediate-level with Excel (required)
  • Strong, but fair, leader.
  • Ability to prioritize and complete multiple demands, all of which may be high priority.
  • Ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action and work independently.
  • Ability to seek out new methods and be willing to incorporate them into existing practices.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral or schedule form.
  • Excel required

Responsibilities

  • Manage investor relationships by understanding all agreements relating to each investor assigned ensuring that all relevant accounting requirements are being met; ensure that correct accounting policies are being followed (GAAP or Tax), lender payments are being calculated correctly and paid in a timely manner, reporting requirements and deadlines are understood and met.
  • Supervise exempt and non-exempt accounting staff assigned to complete the monthly financial statement preparation.
  • Review work of Property Accountants: including monthly journal entries, bank reconciliations and balance sheet reconciliations; financial statement packages prepared on a monthly/quarterly and yearly basis.
  • Respond to questions from ED or BOM related to financial issues at a community.
  • Assist in transitioning communities as they are added/moved from an existing investor portfolio or added/moved to a new portfolio as assigned.
  • Maintain communication with the Controller providing relevant fiscal information.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with employees in other corporate departments to enhance the understanding of the properties assigned.
