About The Position

The Accounting Manager is responsible for assisting the Controller with managing the day to day activities of the accounting department. Additionally, the Accounting Manager will assist the Controller with month-end and year-end close processes, performing account reconciliations and journal entries, reviewing the work of other Accounting team members, maintaining the general ledger, preparing tax returns, assisting with audit preparations, and performing other accounting duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting from an accredited university
  • 5-10 years of experience working in a rigorous accounting environment (experience with companies that are subject to a financial statement audit is highly desirable)
  • Demonstrates initiative in understanding process workflows and related internal controls
  • A continuous improvement mindset
  • High-level problem-solving and analytical skills
  • High attention to detail
  • Advanced knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
  • Experience with Sage Intacct or other like systems
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills, specifically Excel, Powerpoint, and Word
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • Previous supervisory experience of A/P or A/R is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Compiling and analyzing financial information to prepare entries to accounts
  • Preparing and/or reviewing detailed journal entries and bank reconciliations
  • Researching and investigating financial variances for monthly budget to actual analysis as assigned
  • Preparing reports and making recommendations that aid management in determining proper accounting reserves, assets, and expenditures
  • Providing recommendations for process improvements
  • Reviewing A/P and A/R transaction batches before they are entered into the accounting system for accuracy and completeness
  • Ensuring compliance with accounting and reporting deadlines
  • Supporting month-end and year-end close processes
  • Reviewing weekly and biweekly payroll processing as prepared by the Accounting Assistant
  • Serving as primary account administrator for payroll system
  • Working directly with internal stakeholders to improve accuracy of data provided to the Accounting Department
  • Developing and documenting business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
  • Assisting with system implementations as necessary
  • Manage Accounting Team
  • Oversee accounting process - AP, AR, GL
  • Oversee month-end procedures
  • Balance sheet tie-outs
  • Variance analysis
