About The Position

Turbocharged high-performance engine developer and manufacturer, Banks Power, is looking for a seasoned Accounting Manager. In this position, you'll support the Controller in leading all aspects of daily accounting operations, including AP/AR, month-end and year-end close processes, cash management, and bank reconciliations, while managing and developing the accounting team. This role is critical to maintaining the financial integrity and operational efficiency of the department.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required; minimum of 10 years of progressive accounting experience, including 3+ years in a managerial or supervisory capacity
  • Prior experience in manufacturing accounting required. Cost accounting background is a plus.
  • Thorough understanding of GAAP and general accounting principles
  • Advanced proficiency in account reconciliations and month-end/year-end close processes; demonstrated experience preparing financial statements.
  • Advanced Excel skills including VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, and logical functions; proficient with ERP and accounting systems; AI literate
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and communicate findings clearly to diverse audiences
  • Demonstrated experience leading and developing small teams or cross-functional projects
  • High degree of accountability, organizational ability, and attention to detail; thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Proactive self-starter with strong time management skills and the ability to independently drive projects to completion
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily team operations including scheduling, work assignment, and quality review to ensure accuracy, thoroughness, and compliance with company policies and procedures
  • Supervise, train, and mentor accounting staff; provide clear guidance and feedback, ensuring high-quality, accurate outputs. Foster a cohesive, motivated team culture and champion ongoing staff development and training opportunities
  • Build and maintain productive relationships with internal partners, financial institutions, insurance providers, and legal entities to support daily accounting operations
  • Effectively communicate financial information to team members, company leadership, vendors, regulatory agencies, and clients; serve as a resource in resolving escalated accounting issues in a timely and professional manner
  • Lead month-end and year-end close processes for both GBE and BT, ensuring timely and accurate preparation of financial statements in compliance with GAAP
  • Review and approve accounts payable check preparation; verify that all required supporting documentation is received and properly attached prior to disbursement
  • Prepare and post general journal entries and payroll journal entries from the external payroll provider; assist in the preparation of monthly financial statements; maintain fixed assets and depreciation schedules; reconcile bank deposits and statements; maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts; and manage balance sheet reconciliation schedules
  • Assist in compiling and analyzing financial reports as needed, providing meaningful insights related to budgeting, forecasting, and profitability to support informed executive decision-making
  • Monitor and ensure the timely processing of vendor payments
  • Assist with internal audits and strengthen accounting controls; coordinate the preparation of materials for external audits
  • Oversee the maintenance of filing systems and archiving of aged accounting records
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance departmental efficiency
  • Manage special projects as directed by the Controller
