About The Position

We are hiring an Accounting Manager to lead the financial operations for Greenlife Gardens. This is an on-site, hands-on role that owns the day-to-day accounting function while partnering closely with operations leadership to ensure labor, materials, subcontractors, and project performance are tracked accurately and reflected correctly in the financials. Reporting to the CFO and collaborating with corporate accounting, payroll, and HR, this role turns operational activity into clean, timely reporting—supporting job performance visibility, divisional profitability, and cash flow planning. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced, job-cost environment, takes ownership, and drives continuous improvement across processes and controls.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience; job-cost/project-based industry experience strongly preferred (construction, landscaping, field services, trades, etc.)
  • Demonstrated experience owning or leading core functions including AP, AR, billing, payroll coordination, job costing, and month-end close
  • Strong understanding of financial reporting, reconciliations, and operational accounting (labor/materials/subcontractor cost tracking)
  • Ability to manage multiple workflows independently with strong follow-through, accuracy, and sense of urgency
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills; able to identify issues and drive them to resolution
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to partner effectively with operations leaders, project managers, and field teams
  • Proficiency with accounting systems and advanced Excel (filters, pivot tables, lookups, reporting)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Experience supporting project-based operations with job-cost reporting, variance analysis, and performance insights

Responsibilities

  • Own and oversee all division accounting activities including accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, payroll coordination, and job cost tracking
  • Serve as the primary accounting/finance point of contact for the division, partnering closely with operations leadership and reporting to the CFO
  • Ensure transactions are recorded accurately and coded correctly to jobs and cost categories to support clean job-cost reporting
  • Lead the division’s month-end close process, including timelines, reconciliations, and supporting schedules
  • Prepare and review monthly financial statements and supporting schedules
  • Analyze results and communicate performance, trends, and variances to the CFO and operations leadership with clear, actionable insights
  • Ensure job cost reporting aligns with operational activity, including labor, materials, subcontractors, and project performance
  • Monitor and communicate division-level cash flow needs and projections to support proactive decision-making
  • Oversee billing and collections to support timely cash inflows
  • Advise on vendor payment timing and assist operations/CFO with liquidity planning
  • Oversee billing processes to ensure invoices are accurate, complete, and timely
  • Track AR and proactively follow up on past-due accounts
  • Partner with operations leadership to resolve billing questions and disputes
  • Oversee AP processing and ensure proper review and approvals
  • Determine vendor payment timing and prioritization in alignment with cash flow needs and leadership direction
  • Coordinate with operations on vendor approvals and job-related expenses
  • Serve as the on-site payroll liaison between operations and the centralized payroll team
  • Review payroll inputs for accuracy, including time tracking and job allocations
  • Support operations with payroll corrections and decisions prior to processing
  • Act as the financial liaison between operations and corporate accounting to maintain alignment and consistency in reporting
  • Help operations leadership understand job performance, divisional profitability, and financial reporting
  • Identify and implement process improvements that strengthen job costing, billing accuracy, internal controls, and workflow efficiency
