About The Position

The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records, and supporting timely financial reporting in accordance with GAAP. This role manages the month-end close process, supervises accounting staff, strengthens internal controls, and drives process improvements. The Accounting Manager partners closely with Finance leadership and cross-functional teams to support operational and strategic objectives.

  • Minimum of 5–7 years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Prior supervisory or management experience required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
  • Proficiency in ERP/accounting systems, reporting tools, and Microsoft Office (advanced Excel preferred).
  • Experience in food distribution, manufacturing, or high-volume transactional environments preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee daily accounting operations, including general ledger, journal entries, reconciliations, and financial close activities.
  • Lead the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Review and approve journal entries, account reconciliations, and support documentation for accuracy and compliance.
  • Supervise, coach, and develop accounting staff to ensure consistent performance and adherence to accounting standards.
  • Ensure financial statements are prepared in accordance with GAAP and company policies.
  • Assist with balance sheet management, including accruals, prepaids, fixed assets, and depreciation.
  • Support internal and external audits by preparing documentation and responding to audit requests.
  • Establish, document, and continuously improve accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Partner with Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable leadership to ensure proper cut-off, reconciliations, and reporting.
  • Prepare and analyze financial reports and variance analyses for management review.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements, automation, and system enhancements.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, state and federal regulations, and internal control standards.
  • Perform any additional duties as assigned by management.
