About The Position

The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing the organization's day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and strong internal controls. This role manages financial recordkeeping, reporting, and reconciliation processes while providing support in financial analysis and operational efficiency to assist leadership in decision-making.

Requirements

  • The Accounting Manager will be upbeat, positive, outgoing, personable, and able to relate well with diverse individuals and groups
  • Proficient in QuickBooks Online and Microsoft 365 applications (i.e., Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.), with expertise in Excel required
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or relevant field required. 5 to 7 years of experience in financial management and accounting required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, experience collaborating in multidisciplinary, diverse, and dynamic teams, including the ability to explain financial terms in simple language
  • Detail-oriented with a passion for accuracy and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong working knowledge of accounting principles, standards, regulations, and best practices
  • Experience with reconciliations, financial reporting, and maintaining accurate financial records
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to maintain detailed and compliant records
  • Punctual, reliable, and able to take ownership and accountability
  • Demonstrated track record of consistent success in a professional environment with supervisory experience a plus

Nice To Haves

  • Professional certification preferred (QuickBooks Certification, Certified Bookkeeper, or similar); Master’s degree and/ or CPA is a plus but not required

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the recording and accuracy of the company’s financial accounts and records.
  • Reporting to the General Manager, the Accounting Manager is responsible for the company’s financial accounts and records, including entering journals, managing accounts receivable and payable, using financial technology systems, and other select finance-related administration.
  • Ensuring day-to-day transactions such as accounts payable, cash receipts and accounts receivable, credit card transactions, and payroll are recorded properly
  • Prepare, organize, and maintain financial reports, including monthly financials, reconciliations, expenditures, and reports for Board and committee meetings ensuring that accounting schedules are updated and accurate
  • Prepare and perform fiscal year-end close activities and assist with activities and requirements of external auditors and tax professionals
  • Communicate effectively with staff, event planners, vendors, external partners and contractors to maintain accurate accounts regarding financial matters
  • Work with staff to ensure proper internal controls over event-driven revenue streams, including parking, rentals, and food and beverage
  • Manage deposits, cash handling, and check writing, ensuring proper revenue and expense recognition
  • Develop, maintain, and improve financial procedures, systems, and internal controls that support the overall financial performance
  • Continually seek and implement opportunities to streamline and improve finance and accounting operations through technology, including training staff to better utilize financial and accounting software
  • Monitoring cash and investment balances and performing cash flow forecasting
  • Ensuring all finance and accounting operations comply with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and federal and state laws and regulations.
  • Conduct financial analysis and research projects for the GM as needed
  • Communicate regularly with the GM and CEO.
  • Other duties as assigned to meet organizational requirements.
