About The Position

This role requires a professional with a strong background in accounting to supervise, train, schedule, and evaluate direct reports. You will manage a variety of regular and recurring accounting functions, ensuring accuracy and compliance with financial standards.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in accounting and general ledger management.
  • Strong reconciliation skills and experience with month-end processes.
  • Experience with journal entry preparation and financial data analysis.
  • Excellent communication skills for advising departments and interacting with staff and members.
  • Prior supervisory experience with years of progressive experience in an accounting department.

Nice To Haves

  • College degree in accounting.
  • CPA or CHAE certification preferred.
  • Knowledge of accounts receivable, billing, collections, accounts payable, and general ledger processes.
  • Excellent accounting and customer service skills.
  • Ability to sign and adhere to a confidentiality agreement.
  • Professional appearance and ability to perform tasks requiring sustained repetitive motion and/or fine motor skills.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities, including general ledger account reconciliations.
  • Oversee, reconcile, and generate monthly billing for members.
  • Inform and advise other departments about the financial aspects of their responsibilities.
  • Compile, prepare, and review journal entries and supporting documentation.
  • Generate, review, analyze, and communicate financial data reflecting actual performance against budgets.
  • Prepare various monthly and ad-hoc reports for management and committees.
  • Prepare and file monthly sales, liquor, admissions taxes reconciliation, and Maryland returns, including Form 1099 compliance and unclaimed property reporting.
  • Review bi-weekly payroll and manage funding for the 401(k) Plan.
  • Draft promissory notes for new members.
  • Prepare workpapers for house accounts write-offs and unearned revenues.
  • Formulate, receive, and recommend policy proposals for approval related to accounting, auditing, budgeting, and revenue control.
  • Assist in the preparation of annual operating and capital budgets, monthly financial forecasts, and variance analysis.
  • Supervise and verify reports made to agencies and professional organizations.
  • Assist in preparation for annual audits of financial statements.
