About The Position

The Service Oklahoma (SOK) mission is to ease the stress in navigating government services by providing a best-in-class customer experience. We are Oklahomans helping Oklahomans by providing driver license and motor vehicle services on behalf of the state. This position has an annual rate of $85,000.00 The Service Oklahoma offers a generous benefits package, including a benefits allowance to off-set the costs of medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance plans. The Service Oklahoma will match up to 7% towards an employee’s Defined Contribution retirement plan. Our employees receive 11 paid holidays, 15 days of paid annual leave, which increases with every 5 years of service, and 15 days of paid sick leave. Additionally, employees will receive longevity payments based on their years of service with the State of Oklahoma. POSITION SUMMARY The Accounting Manager, working in concert with executive management, is responsible managing the Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Financial Reporting, Cash Operations, and Asset Management functions of Service Oklahoma. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES This job description describes the general nature and level of work performed by the employee assigned to this position. Assists in the planning, directing, and coordination of fiscal operations and financial accounting functions. Develops accounting systems, controls, and procedures for recording revenues and expenditures; directs the maintenance of accounting records concerning appropriations or other revenues, payroll expenses, travel expenses, contracting costs, and other financial transactions. Plans and directs operational or financial reviews to ensure financial accountability, ensure compliance with established standards, and enhance agency operating procedures. Manages the preparation of financial statements and reports, including GAAP packages, GASB 87, and SWCAP Establishes necessary fiscal controls to insure appropriate accountability for revenues and expenditures. Prepares ad hoc reporting as assigned, including in-depth analysis of various funds and accounts or current accounting trends. Seeks feedback from your peers/stakeholders and collaborate to enhance processes, encourage efficiencies. Serves as a leader, perpetuating the servant-leader culture of customer service the agency is currently building. Oversees Agency-wide Cash Operations, determines appropriate level of currency in total and per examiner necessary to meet customer service needs and establishes controls to ensure accountability for cash and coin. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of business office financial operations including daily and monthly processing of transactions, compliance, and reporting
  • Detail-oriented, self-starter, self-motivator, and superb follow-up skills
  • Strong leadership, management, and communication skills with an understanding for personalized needs
  • Ability to work effectively with staff from various state agencies demonstrating a high degree of interpersonal skills in both verbal and written communications.
  • Ability to read, understand and ensure accounting compliance with state statutes.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, economics, or other related discipline from an accredited college or university, PLUS two years of professional-level accounting or finance experience.
  • OR a minimum of six (6) years of professional-level accounting or finance experience.
  • OR an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Have experience in Government accounting and understands GAAP (as it relates to government).
  • Have experience working with a general ledger, PeopleSoft Financials, or similar ERP system.
