About The Position

The Accounting Manager is part of the Accounting Department, which includes a Controller and an Accounts Payable Staff Accountant. This position will initially report to the President and will ultimately report to the Controller. The Accounting Manager provides daily accounting operations including accounts payable processing and reconciliation, accounts receivable reconciliation, and payroll administration, ensuring GAAP compliance throughout all accounting operations. The Accounting Manager routinely interfaces with Project Executives related to job cost, subcontractor commitments and payables, as well as client billings and receipts. Additionally, the role provides team leadership in supervising, mentoring, and training accounting and operations staff who interface with the project accounting function.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or Construction Management.
  • Experience with construction financial workflows and proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong attention to detail, leadership capability, analytical thinking, and communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge of Sage 300, HH2, Textura, and Procore is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate period-end (monthly), quarter-end, and year-end accounting processes, ensuring reconciliations are complete and accurate.
  • Oversee and manage Accounts Payable processing, including invoice coding, routing, and approvals.
  • Ensure Project Teams provide monthly pay application and owner billing reconciliations for entry into the accounting database.
  • Ensure reconciliation of integrated databases including Sage, Procore, and Textura.
  • Prepare and distribute weekly Accounts Payable and Textura disbursement reports, determining payments based on payment terms and/or Owner funding.
  • Coordinate initial setup of vendors and subcontractors, ensuring all required documents are received and saved.
  • Manage selected-for-payment and on-hold subcontractor draws.
  • Provide regular disbursement status updates across multiple projects, ensuring compliance with subcontractor commitments.
  • Manage annual payroll schedules and coordinate payroll timing.
  • Serve as the accounting contact for ADP and administrator for payroll data management.
  • Ensure payroll transactions are processed through Sage for job costing.
  • Ensure federal, state, and local payroll taxes across multiple states are established, set up, and processed accurately and timely.
  • Generate and complete Certified Payroll reporting as required.
  • Interact daily to provide accounting support to project teams related to owner billings, Textura draws, financial setup, and detailed job cost reporting.
  • Collaborate and act as liaison between Accounting and Operations with emphasis on cost engineering support for Project Managers, Project Executives, and Vice Presidents.
  • Develop and provide backup and support to the responsibilities associated with the Controller function including reconciling general ledger entries, production of financial reports, and treasury functions.
  • Regularly communicate accounting requirements, deadlines, follow-ups, and compliance expectations to Project Managers, Operations leaders, and Executives.
