The Accounting Manager assists and supports the General Manager with the maintenance and control of the hotel's financial operations. This includes, but is not limited to, accounts receivable, accounts payable, reconciliations, hotel daily deposits, giving change, daily revenue reporting, group and catering advance and final payment processing and tracking. The role also involves assisting Sales and Operations to ensure accurate and timely accounting support, as well as assisting with recruiting, new hire onboarding, and training. The manager coordinates all onsite accounting functions and acts as a liaison for corporate accounting requests. They are responsible for verifying the accuracy and timeliness of all finance functions, including daily and month-end reporting, payroll processing, income audit, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and cash and credit card management. The position ensures that all administrative procedures are in place and functioning effectively, and that accounting practices adhere to legal requirements and standards, including preparing and filing tax and license information returns and providing information to auditors. The Accounting Manager establishes and monitors cost and expense control systems, ensures monthly P&Ls reflect accurate revenues and expenses, and facilitates P&L reviews. They are tasked with developing and achieving financial goals, summarizing and forecasting hotel revenues, expenses, and earnings, and generating end-of-period reports. The role also involves completing monthly property financial packages for the ownership group, preparing billing invoices, processing payments, finalizing payroll, monitoring staff records, maintaining financial files, managing outstanding accounts, reconciling vendor statements, and ensuring timely and accurate Accounts Receivable billings. Additionally, the manager ensures the collection and payment of applicable taxes, advises on operational adjustments due to tax code revisions, develops and implements financial and purchasing strategies, maintains tax-exempt worksheets, preps and codes invoices, maximizes cash flow, prepares daily accounts receivable recaps and aging reports, and handles daily deposits. They thoroughly review the Daily Revenue Report, maintain month-end logs, articulate cash handling policies, audit city ledger and banquet charges, handle guest credit requests and inquiries, and research credit card chargebacks. The Accounting Manager advises the General Manager on all accounting matters and attends operations and leadership meetings.
