About The Position

Lerch Bates is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Accounting Manager to join our team. This is a hands-on leadership role for a manager who both leads and actively participates in the work, including general ledger maintenance, tax filings, and month-end close. In this role, you will oversee the full spectrum of accounting operations such as project and cost accounting, financial reporting, reconciliations, and audits, while ensuring accuracy and timeliness through direct involvement in day-to-day activities. You will contribute to forecasting, budgeting, and financial reporting, providing accurate data, insights, and analysis to support planning efforts. This position is ideal for a leader who can balance execution with forward-looking awareness, while developing a strong team and ensuring financial integrity across multiple entities in a collaborative environment where your expertise directly supports business decisions and project performance. Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field required
  • Minimum 5 years experience in accounting/finance/project accounting.
  • Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience managing an accounting team.
  • Thorough, in-depth working knowledge of the internal accounting standards of small businesses, including customer invoicing, AR management, AP management, account reconciliations, payroll, sales tax remittances, accrual account maintenance, balance sheet schedules, and financial statement preparation.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of general financial accounting, cost accounting, and revenue recognition.
  • Familiar with Sales/Use and Franchise Taxes
  • Understanding of and the ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Ability to correctly prepare tax reports.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software, and accounting software.

  • Experience working with multiple domestic and legal entities.
  • Experience with financial reporting requirements.

Responsibilities

  • File tax forms with federal, state, and local government agencies.
  • Perform general cost and project accounting.
  • Review 3rd party prepared monthly balance sheets, income statements, and profit and loss statements.
  • Assist with maintaining the general ledger.
  • Provide outside auditors with assistance; gather necessary account information and documents to perform annual audit.
  • Reconcile accounts and close the monthly books.
  • Monthly bank account reconciliation reviews and approvals, verify deposits and address inquiries from banks.
  • Reconcile cash disbursement accounts, payroll, customer accounts, and other financial accounts; manage accounts receivable collections.
  • Verify and/or assist with payment of invoices associated with accounts payable and ensure payments are charged to the appropriate accounts.
  • Final review and approvals on A/P check runs.
  • Approve bank wires, EFTs, and transfers of funds for applicable accounts.
  • Be the signer on applicable bank accounts.
  • Manage the purchasing and invoicing system.
  • Interface with customers, CFO, accountants, and auditors.
  • Collaborate in strategic planning and financial forecasting.
  • Maintain knowledge of acceptable accounting practices and procedures.
  • Evaluate accounting processes and systems and implement optimizations.
  • Manage the day-to-day supervision, training, and development of the Accounts Payable team and General Accountant.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
