About The Position

Taylor Shellfish Farms is one of the largest producers of farmed shellfish in North America. The company is quickly growing in sustainable shellfish farming with new techniques and innovative growing methods. Reporting to the Controller, the Accounting Manager will provide administrative and financial support services. The position works closely with other accounting personnel, internal departments, and external parties.

Requirements

  • College Degree, 2 or 4 year favorable, Accounting focused
  • 4 years professional experience in accounting and finance
  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel and Outlook)
  • Strong analytical problem-solving aptitude with creative solutions, ability to organize work with large amounts of information efficiently, manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously with strong attention to detail
  • Able to work as a team player
  • Willingness to be flexible and adaptable to change
  • Ability to sit, stand and/or walk on uneven ground
  • The employee may be required to stoop, bend, kneel, twist, and squat
  • The vision requirements include: close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus
  • Must be able to speak and hear well enough to communicate with co-workers, supervisors and managers
  • Must be able to drive to multiple locations

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of Sage Intacct, Visual Lease a plus

Responsibilities

  • Support and Back up Accounts Receivable & Accounts Payable
  • Fill in for overflow, vacations, and sick
  • Review vendor payments and cash disbursements
  • Monitor collections and aging reports
  • Ensure proper expense coding and cost allocation
  • Cash Management and Cash planning
  • Monitor daily cash position
  • Oversee bank reconciliations
  • Oversee credit card reconciliation and expense reporting
  • Support the monthly, quarterly, and annual close
  • Assist and review: Financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow), Journal entries, Account reconciliations, Ensure accuracy of general ledger activity
  • Assist with consolidation of multiple entities/locations
  • Maintain supporting schedules for audits and lenders
  • Maintain and improve internal controls
  • Ensure compliance with: GAAP, Tax regulations (sales tax, payroll tax, excise, etc.), State and federal reporting requirements
  • Coordinate external audits and tax filings
  • Monitor adherence to accounting policies and procedures
  • Support insurance audits and regulatory reporting
  • Assist with cash flow forecasting
  • Coordinate line-of-credit activity with lenders
  • Improve accounting workflows
  • Implement accounting software updates
  • Support ERP upgrades or integrations
  • Develop reporting dashboards
  • Additional duties as assigned
