Summary of Position: The primary functions of an accounting manager are to manage the accounting department and work with all levels of associates within the organization. Oversee daily accounting operations, including general ledger, AP, AR, payroll, and month-end closing, while ensuring GAAP compliance. Duties & Responsibilities: Complete financial statements on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis Review current internal controls and implement approved procedures to correct any deficiencies Coordinate with internal and external audits Implement internal controls to prevent errors and fraud Assure that all tax payments are made to the proper taxing authority on a timely basis. Review and maintain the fixed assets ledger and perform physical inventories of assets on an annual basis Reconcile general ledgers to trial balance monthly, investigate any differences and make corrections Know payroll preparation process, including direct deposits, tax deposits, and tax forms, insurance, deductions, etc. Perform A/P and A/R processes Detailed understanding of the credit management process Complete comprehension of claims process Strong knowledge of inventory management: inventory turns, days in inventory, obsolete inventory, and surplus inventory Manage, train, and mentor team members Oversee month-end and year-end close Identify inefficiencies in processes Implement new automation tools Collaborate with other departments to support overall business goals and initiatives Other Competencies: Ability to self-manage, show initiative and solve problems Communicate professionally, both verbally and in writing to coworkers and customers Basic Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree emphasis in Accounting or Finance Minimum of 5 years of related work experience Strong Microsoft office skills Advanced skills in Excel Demonstrated knowledge of all general and advanced accounting procedures Physical Demands: Must be able to remain in stationary position 80% Frequently, will move about inside the office to access files, office machinery, etc. Must be able to communicate with team and management and be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
