Two Six Technologies is growing and we are seeking an experienced GL Accounting Manager to oversee core accounting operations within a government contracting environment. You will be responsible for participating heavily in the monthly close process, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting, and supervising daily accounting activities including account reconciliations, bank reconciliations, customer payments, credit card reconciliations, and vendor management. This is a hybrid position working from our Herndon, VA office two days per week.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
  • 4+ years of experience in a government contract accounting environment with strong emphasis on General Ledger accounting
  • 2+ years of experience in a public accounting environment with strong emphasis on manufacturing
  • 2+ years of experience in a lead role, with demonstrated ability to supervise and develop staff
  • Solid understanding of accrual accounting, reconciliations, and month-end processes
  • Experience with AIM or a comparable Inventory Management System
  • Knowledge of SOX and DCAA compliance
  • Solid skills with Microsoft Excel
  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
  • Must be able to manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Unanet accounting/ERP system
  • Experience with OneStream for account reconciliations and financial reporting
  • Experience improving or automating accounting processes
  • Security Clearance Eligibility to and willingness obtain a government clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the team in the monthly close process to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting
  • Prepare and review bank reconciliations, ensuring completeness and accuracy
  • Record and apply customer payments
  • Perform credit card reconciliations and investigate discrepancies as needed
  • Oversee vendor setup, ensuring compliance with internal controls and required documentation
  • Record and apply vendor payments.
  • Handle inventory accounting functions
  • Maintain adherence to DCAA standards, internal policies, and other regulatory requirements
  • Support internal and external audits by preparing schedules, documentation, and responding to auditor inquiries
  • Identify opportunities to streamline processes and improve internal controls
  • Mentor and guide accounting staff, reviewing work for accuracy and compliance
