About The Position

The main purpose of this job is to support the corporate accounting function for the Bank and its subsidiaries. This position is responsible for the accurate application of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) for all product lines and operational functions.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and ability to apply as needed
  • Motivated and organized self-starter with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines and complete work with a high degree of accuracy
  • Inquisitive, agile and strong team player with excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills, with ability to frequently communicate to senior manager, officers and executives

  • High level of analytical and problem solving skills
  • Intermediate level proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook & Teams
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting required
  • 5+ years of accounting experience or 3 years with public accounting experience required

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) strongly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Perform and maintain the allowance for credit loss (ACL), a key judgmental estimate within the financial statements
  • Prepare the monthly estimation for the allowance for credit loss using the Company’s developed model ensuring assumptions, data input and processes are complete and accurate, analyze results and identifies and resolves any issues
  • Prepare sections of the quarterly Call Report which require knowledge of the regulatory rules, Commerce products and reporting capabilities and collaboration with various departments across the bank
  • Prepare regulatory financial reports, along with internal management reports and analyses for senior leadership.
  • Assist in preparation of SEC disclosures by gathering information needed and assess information for accuracy, completeness and verify that it meets the reporting requirements
  • Determine the proper accounting treatment for unusual and/or complex transactions
  • Assist in implementing new accounting processes and procedures for new or changing bank products or regulations ensuring information is correctly reported
  • Monitor general ledger activities for accuracy and completeness, analyze and investigate account fluctuations
  • Prepare detailed documentation used in review and audit procedures
  • Assist in monthly, quarterly and annual close processes
  • Support special projects and perform other duties as assigned
