About The Position

Gauntlet is seeking an Accounting Lead to take ownership of our month-end close, revenue and expense cycles, digital asset accounting, and other core accounting processes. This is a high-impact role where you’ll serve as the operational backbone of our accounting team to help drive accuracy, efficiency, and audit readiness. Through your role, you will work across revenue, digital asset ledgers, vendor management, expense accounting, and financial controls. You will also help facilitate relationships with our external tax and audit providers. You will have the opportunity to grow your leadership skills through supervising and mentoring a Senior Accountant while collaborating closely with the Controller and CFO of Gauntlet.

Requirements

  • At least 4 years of accounting experience; mix of public accounting + industry preferred
  • Strong understanding of accrual accounting, revenue recognition, and financial reporting (ASC 606, asset valuations, GAAP)
  • Experience owning or heavily contributing to period end close processes
  • High proficiency with Google Suite, Xero (or other accounting ERP), and modern tools
  • Ability to operate in ambiguity with strong ownership and accountability
  • Strong analytical skills and exceptional attention to detailExcellent communicator with cross-functional partnership experience

Nice To Haves

  • Crypto or digital asset accounting experience
  • Understanding of yield-bearing products, staking, or DeFi vault structures
  • Prior startup experience in a high-growth environment
  • CPA, or progress toward one
  • Prior experience managing or leading a team

Responsibilities

  • Own the entire monthly close process
  • Prepare & review accruals, prepaids, reconciliations, and GL classifications
  • Maintain the digital asset subledger: cost basis, MTM, realized/unrealized G&L
  • Ensure proper accounting documentation, SOPs, and internal controls
  • Oversee the revenue cycle from billing to collections
  • Maintain revenue recognition schedules
  • Review JEs and collaborate with Controller on complex accounting matters
  • Oversee AP and expense workflowsReview spend analyses and ensure proper GL mapping
  • Prepare workpapers for financial audit and tax filings
  • Draft initial tax notice responses, maintain nexus tracking, maintain tax filing tracker
  • Drive automation improvements with systems and processes
