About The Position

The Accounting Intern supports the Accounting team by assisting with day-to-day accounting activities, including Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable functions. This role is designed to provide hands-on experience with general accounting processes, exposure to generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), and an introduction to cost accounting concepts. The intern will work under supervision to assist with journal entries, reconciliations, financial reports, and other accounting tasks while developing practical skills in a manufacturing environment. This role is ideal for a student interested in applying accounting fundamentals in a practical, corporate setting and gaining real‑world accounting experience.

Requirements

  • Must be currently enrolled in a four‑year college or university program in Accounting, Business Administration or a related discipline.
  • Ability to work effectively in a corporate office environment and collaborate across various departments such as purchasing, engineering, maintenance, HR, and operations teams.
  • Must be eligible to work on programs subject to ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations)

Nice To Haves

  • Coursework or basic understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
  • Exposure to or interest in cost accounting concepts.
  • Intermediate Excel skills, including formulas, basic data analysis, and spreadsheets.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Strong data collection, documentation, and organizational skills.
  • Willingness to learn and work hands‑on in an office environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable tasks as needed, under supervision.
  • Support the creation, entry, and posting of journal entries to the general ledger.
  • Assist with bank statement reconciliations.
  • Help analyze specific general ledger accounts for accuracy, as requested by management.
  • Prepare various financial analysis schedules as directed by management.
  • Support the month-end closing process.
  • Help prepare and print financial reports and related spreadsheets for review.
  • Respond to internal questions in a prompt and professional manner, escalating issues as appropriate.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment at all times.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to learn and look for opportunities to improve efficiency and accuracy.
  • Perform other reasonably related duties as assigned to support the Accounting team.
