We are currently seeking a dynamic Accounting Intern to join Chicago Trading Company (CTC)! As an Accounting Intern, you will be challenged to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment and will play a significant role in the firm's daily financial operations. You will work on daily operations that will immediately contribute to the success of the company, complete financial reporting, and communicate with other finance staff throughout the day. As an Accounting Intern, you will be immersed in a dynamic, fast-paced environment where you will play a crucial role in our daily financial operations. Your contributions will be both immediate and impactful. Throughout the summer, you will focus on daily operational accounting, engage in project work, assist with reporting, and maintain regular communication with other finance staff. As part of the Summer Associate cohort, you will have the opportunity to learn and network with Quant Trading Interns and Software Engineering Interns.

Requirements

You have a desire to work in tandem with financial analysts, accountants, procurement specialists, treasury and other experts to further our goal of providing world-class financial reporting
You are driven and are an initiative-taking individual that only gets stronger as part of a collaborative team
You love solving complex problems
You are intellectually curious and like to challenge the status quo
You can effectively communicate sophisticated ideas both written and verbally
You have strong analytical and excel skills
No prior experience in accounting is necessary, but a deep curiosity and hunger to learn is crucial
You are pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting
You will graduate between December 2026-June 2027
You have a demonstrated record of success (academics, awards, volunteering, community service, etc.)

Responsibilities

Handle daily accounts payable and expense analysis
Assist with the posting of daily financial activity into the GL and create the associated reconciliations
Review daily cash activity and ensure transactions are accurately recorded
Assist with the month end close process, including the analysis of accruals, fixed assets and prepaid transactions as well as the preparation of draft financials
Engage in documenting and streamlining recurring processes
Process technology and data purchasing requests for end-users in Trading and Technology, requiring collaboration across finance, legal and various technology teams
Work directly with vendors regarding pricing policies, and/or billing related questions, requests, or issues
Contribute to financial forecasting, budget process, and business trend analysis
Other projects as requested within the various Finance teams
