About The Position

The Marcus Corporation is seeking motivated Accounting Interns to join our dynamic Finance & Accounting team. This hands-on internship offers meaningful exposure to the accounting operations of a publicly traded, lodging and entertainment company, including monthly and period-end close, account reconciliations, financial reporting, and special projects. Interns will support both Marcus Theatres and Marcus Hotels & Resorts, gaining broad exposure to corporate and operational accounting. Our rotational intern program is designed to provide structured development and insight into multiple areas of the finance function while working alongside experienced professionals in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment where accuracy and attention to detail are critical. Interns are encouraged to bring a tech-forward mindset and explore how automation and emerging technologies can support and enhance accounting processes. The internship begins as a full-time summer position with the opportunity to continue part-time during the academic year and is based on-site at our corporate headquarters in Milwaukee.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program in Accounting or Finance
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel required)
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
  • Tech-forward mindset with curiosity for how technology, automation, and emerging tools can enhance accounting and financial processes
  • Ability to work on-site in our Milwaukee corporate office

Nice To Haves

  • Interest in data analysis, financial reporting, automation, or AI-enabled tools is preferred.
  • Prior accounting coursework, internship, or project-based experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and record journal entries by analyzing financial data and supporting documentation
  • Perform balance sheet account reconciliations, investigate discrepancies, and ensure accuracy
  • Support the monthly and period-end close process, including financial statement review and variance analysis
  • Provide accounting support to hotel and theatre operations
  • Assist with corporate reporting and special accounting projects
  • Partner with the accounting team to explore opportunities for process improvements, including the potential use of automation and Artificial Intelligence, and assist with evaluating how these tools could support accounting activities
  • Identify inefficiencies in existing processes and contribute ideas to improve accuracy, efficiency, and scalability
  • Take on additional responsibilities and projects to support the success of the Accounting team
