About The Position

The Accounting Generalist is an accounting professional with broad knowledge across various financial functions, rather than a deep specialization in a single area. The role handles diverse tasks such as accounts payable and receivable, preparing financial statements, performing audits, assisting with payroll, managing internal controls, and providing financial analysis for a company or its clients. This position serves as the “go-to” person for most financial matters, though they may collaborate with specialists for highly complex issues.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and a minimum of two years of A/R or accounting experience required.
  • Strong computer skills and the ability to learn the Hedberg distribution and accounting system.

Nice To Haves

  • 4-year degree a plus but not a requirement.
  • California Class C Driver’s License (if required to travel, perform essential job duties, run errands, etc.).

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a primary Accounting Department ombudsman, concierge and liaison for company departments and support disciplines, outside business partners, and vendors.
  • Support the Controller and Executive Team members by participating, contributing, and leading various Accounting projects, reporting tasks and assigned research and miscellaneous company initiatives.
  • Spend sufficient time with various Accounting employees to gain an understanding and working knowledge of their roles and responsibilities.
  • Provide support for financial-related functions including processing invoices and payments, managing accounts payable and receivable, preparing journal entries and reconciling accounts, assisting with month-end closings and financial reporting, performing financial analysis and supporting business leaders, maintaining internal controls and assisting with audits, preparing financial statements as needed, performing General Ledger review and reconciliation as needed.
  • Cross train on all A/P and A/R processes and serve as back-up resource.
  • Be a subject matter expert for Canadian customs issues.
  • Review, assess and generate recommendations for process improvement and resource options.
  • Gain an effective working knowledge of Certified Payroll rules and processes to serve as an effective internal backup to the Payroll Administrator.
  • Gain an effective working knowledge of the tasks and demands of the project contract execution between Tangram/Tangram Technology/Studio Other and their customers/contractors.
  • Perform efforts to troubleshoot and problem solve accounting-related issues and functions.
  • Introduce and support strategic innovation to advance departmental and company-wide practices and initiatives.
