Join ATTIC's dedicated Finance team in our Madison Administrative Offices! We are seeking an individual with accounting knowledge and experience. ATTIC stands for "Alternatives to Traditional Incarceration of Citizens." We are a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to developing interventions that enable individuals to avoid unnecessary levels of incarceration, enhance community safety and provide a setting that facilitates treatment and the reduction of recidivism. We operate residential and other correctional programs throughout Wisconsin that provide case management, counseling and treatment groups, vocational training and high-risk client monitoring and supervision. The Accounting Generalist reports to the Office Manager. This position will assist in the daily fiscal operations of the Administrative Office of ATTIC Correctional Services, Inc., which is a non-profit Community Corrections agency operating in WI and MN.

  • Assist with the fiscal management of the agency: accounting, general ledger, accounts receivable and payable, related tax reporting, and compliance audits.
  • Weekly accounts payable check runs.
  • Write up and enter weekly deposits.
  • Daily cost allocation and invoice entry.
  • Recording daily checking account debits and credits
  • Annual 1099 tax reporting
  • Reconciling monthly checking account services
  • Assisting Office Manager with monthly AR billings
  • Manage the agency property, auto, liability, cyber, director and officer insurance coverage.
  • Manage insurance claims on auto and property.
  • Ensure premises coverage and changes, as well as managing the annual property and casualty coverage at annual renewal.
  • Maintain property lease databases, re-occurring monthly rent payments, set up new utility services with new leases.
  • Other tasks and assignments as determined by Office Manager
  • Minimum of an associate degree in accounting, Finance, business administration or related field is preferred.
  • Minimum of five years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; experience in financial management software.
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge of budget and non-profit accounting practices.
  • Possess strong communication skills, including verbal, written and presentation. Proven record of excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrates outstanding time management skills, ability to multi-task, determine priorities. Ability to establish, work with and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and a strong attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a team.
