Requirements

  • Previous experience in accounting, finance, or clerical work, often 1–3 years in a similar role, and industry
  • Familiarity with basic bookkeeping, debits/credits, and general ledger reconciliation.
  • Strong communication skills for customer interaction, high attention to detail, and organizational abilities

Responsibilities

  • Working with other members of the accounting department to compile, analyze, and report financial data.
  • Making journal or ledger entries.
  • Act as a point of contact between internal departments and accounting, serving as a liaison between accounting and external parties, including clients, suppliers, and lenders.
  • Staying current on the company, local, state, and federal financial regulations and policies.
  • Generating and sending accurate, timely invoices to clients.
  • Posting payments (checks, ACH, credit card) to customer accounts and reconciling the AR ledger.
  • Reviewing aging reports, calling or emailing customers regarding overdue invoices, and negotiating payment plans.
  • Investigating short payments, unauthorized deductions, or disputed invoices.
  • Producing monthly reports on delinquency and status of AR accounts.
