About The Position

The Accounting Associate is responsible for the regular review, analysis, and reconciliation of general ledger accounts, ensuring compliance standards are met. They utilize software to maintain and track companywide reconciliation status and assist the Accounting Manager with account analysis related to monthly close procedures.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree (or equivalent); OR high school diploma (or equivalent) plus two years of experience in functional area.
  • Familiarity with basic accounting principles and practices.
  • Working knowledge of relevant state, federal, and local regulations.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office 365 products and accounting software.
  • Willingness to pursue continuing education, certifications, etc. as applicable to advancing in the organization.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to speak confidently.
  • An ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment where priorities change daily, and where employees wear many hats.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to think "outside the box" and prioritize tasks and decisions in a timely manner.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a master list of monthly journal entries, creating recurring journal entry templates.
  • Perform the daily Accounts Payable function, as well as the monthly Fixed Asset and Prepaid function, ensuring all new assets are properly classified and inputted and monthly depreciation is processed.
  • Complete reconciliations for assigned general ledger accounts, ensuring accurate processing and posting of all account entries.
  • Prepare month-end journal entries, reconcile general ledger accounts, and assist with general accounting functions.
  • Review and analyze general ledger accounts, analyze, and interpret variances.
  • Prepare work papers for internal and external audits.
  • Maintain required records, reports, and files in an organized manner.
  • Assist in performing financial and operational analyses with the goal of improving efficiency of operations, ensuring compliance with established accounting procedures.
  • Perform special projects, and additional duties and responsibilities as required.
