About The Position

Classification: 20-24 hrs/wk, Non-Exempt, Part-Time Work Hours: Flexible, with a preference for Monday–Thursday during standard business hours. Ministry Area: Accounting & Finance Location: In-Person, Chanhassen Campus Reports to: Patrick Hukriede WESTWOOD'S WAY OF LIFE: Be and love like Jesus WESTWOOD'S HEARTBEAT: To know God and share Jesus through loving others here, near, and far MINISTRY AREA PURPOSE: Operations (Accounting, Data, IT, Facilities) exists to serve the body of Westwood with innovation, transparency, and objectivity. ROLE: Train and support ministry departments related to finance and accounting activities. Will also assist Accounting Team cross-training in various tasks when additional assistance is needed.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated success in training, compliance, and supporting staff
  • 2+ years of accounting experience with accrual-based accounting or pursuing accounting secondary education
  • Organized and detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work under deadlines and maintain attention to detail
  • Good communications skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office tools (experience with other software a plus)
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
  • Ability to relate to other Westwood staff and church attenders at large
  • Endorse and support Westwood’s Statement of Faith

Responsibilities

  • Manage all employee transitions related to accounting/finance tasks – onboarding, internal transitions and offboarding.
  • Software Training (credit cards, invoicing, expense reports, sale tax)
  • Accounting Policies and Procedures Training and Compliance
  • Transition Checklist (ensuring smooth process for staff/accounting)
  • Manage ministry partner support with Outreach Team with quarterly payments
  • Coordinate cross-function team meetings with administrative staff in various departments
  • Assist in weekly tasks: prepare bill payment, credit card activity, journal entries, bank feed transactions, reconciliations, etc.
  • Crosstrain in Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable core tasks to cover when staff take PTO
  • Manage POS system and reporting (café and other types of sales)
  • Participate in regular check-ins and a mid-year/end of year evaluation
