About The Position

The Maine Department of Labor, Bureau of Unemployment Compensation, is seeking an Unemployment Tax Associate. We are looking for ambitious, analytical individuals with excellent communication skills and keen attention to detail to join our growing Customer Support team. In this position you will play a critical role in providing customer service support to employers, ensuring tax and wage reports are filed and payments are applied accurately and timely. We offer a flexible hybrid remote and in office work schedule after a probationary period.

Requirements

  • Entry-level to intermediate Training, education, and/or experience in office and administrative support functions demonstrating competency in conducting research, compiling data, providing customer assistance, and using independent judgement to make determinations on routine business matters

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to employers, resolving questions and issues concerning established Unemployment Tax policy, procedures, and e-services.
  • Research and resolve suspended tax reports and payments.
  • Adjust tax and wage reports when applicable.
  • Reconcile out of balance tax and wage reports.
  • Make liability determinations using established criteria and regulations
